North Shelby Baseball at Brashear April 13, 2010

Brashear sweeps a varsity double-header.

The first game of the double-header was a pitcher's duel with North Shelby's Thrasher and Brashear's Matt Thomas each limiting their opponents to only 3 hits. Brashear's batters walked 7 times to only 2 walks for North Shelby, but the real difference in the game came in the third inning when a Hayden Coin walk and a Hayden Housman single brought Matt Thomas to the plate to blast a 3-run homer. Brashear went on to win 5-1 with North Shelby's lone run coming in the 3rd inning. Hayden Coin also homered for Brashear. Craigmyle and Mesmer had hits for North Shelby. Matt Thomas got the win striking out 13 and Thrasher took the loss for North Shelby striking out 6.

The second game was a high-scoring affair with Brashear jumping out to a 13-4 lead after 1 inning and going on to win 19-11. Brashear's Matt Thomas, Cody Snelling, and Adam Songer hit back to back to back homers in the first, then Thomas and Snelling added another homer each as they came up to bat a second time in the 1st inning. Jay Scudder added a 2-run homer in the 6th. North Shelby's Thrasher, Craigmyle, and Otto each homered in the 1st. For Brashear, Jay Scudder and Dillon Redding had 3 hits each, Hayden Housman, Matt Thomas, Cody Snelling, and Nick Thomas had 2 hits each, and Adam Songer, Nick Bradshaw, and Nicholas Gordon also had hits. For North Shelby, Thrasher, Craigmyle, Otto, and Stoneburner had hits. Hayden Coin got the win for Brashear going 6 innings with Nick Thomas pitching 1 inning of relief. Stoneburner took the loss for North Shelby with Mesmer and Otto pitching in relief.
