Brashear Baseball at LaPlata May 4, 2010

The Bulldogs sweep the varsity/jv double-header.

Tuesday night's matchup between LaPlata and Brashear looked like it might be a pitcher's duel. After LaPlata's Jake Heissler retired 3 straight batters in the top of the first, Brashear's Matt Thomas took the mound to try to do the same. After striking out the leadoff hitter, an error and a walk put 2 aboard for LaPlata. Thomas managed to strike out the next batter, but Tyler Clay stroked a 2-out 2-rbi double to give LaPlata all the offense they would need. Neither team would advance a runner beyond 2nd base until the bottom of the 6th when LaPlata scored 5 insurance runs to claim the 7-0 victory. Nick Thomas had Brashear's lone hit. For LaPlata, Christian Bunch, Jake Heissler, Tyler Clay, Anthony Hays, and Ty Hettinger all had hits. Jake Heissler was the winning pitcher striking out 12 in 7 innings while Matt Thomas took the loss also striking out 12 in 6 innings.

LaPlata won the jv game 1-0.
