The Brashear Tigers sweep a Varsity/JV double-header.

The Brashear Lady Tigers softball team traveled to Scotland County Tuesday for their season opener. Scotland County took a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning on a pair of singles and an error. They managed to hold onto the lead until the top of the 6th when back to back hits brought in a run to tie the game. Brashear took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 7th on back to back hits by Shelby Salter and Abby McKim. Scotland mounted a rally in the bottom of the 7th getting 2 runners aboard with 2 out, but fell short when their lead runner was thrown out at the plate trying to score from 2nd on a single to left field. Shelby Salter had 2 hits for Brashear with Meredith Thomas, Cierra Hines, Abby McKim, and Ashley Watson also having hits. For Scotland County, Bethany Rader, Skyler Alderton, Loren Smith, Cali Holt, and Katie Howard all had hits. Cierra Hines was the winning pitcher going the distance and striking out 9. Megan Creek went 6 innings for Scotland County with Bethany Rader taking the loss in relief.

Brashear won the JV game by a score of 6-5.
