On Thursday night, the Lady Tigers and Lady Cats continued a long history of close hard-fought games. Brashear's last win was a 12-2 victory in 2002. Many of the games were very close such as the 2004 game where Brashear's Christina Scudder and Bevier's all-stater Valerie Teter dueled down to the wire as Bevier pulled out a 7th inning 1-0 win. Scudder and Teter duked it out on the mound again in 2006 as Bevier escaped with a 2-0 extra inning win. Scudder and Katelyn Tolle battled 13 innings in 2007 before Bevier prevailed 1-0. This year's game fit the mold perfectly as Brashear's Cierra Hines and Bevier's Cheyenne Shelmadine quickly went to work mowing down batters. 17 straight batters were retired in the game before Brashear's Katie Smith, Meredith Thomas, and Shelby Salter drew 2-out walks to load the bases in the bottom of the 3rd. Shelmadine came through in the clutch with a strikeout to end Brashear's threat keeping the game tied 0-0. Meanwhile Hines kept in her groove almost pitching a perfect game. She had retired 19 straight Bevier batters when Valley Wilson singled in the top of the seventh. Meanwhile, Brashear got a run in the bottom of the 6th when Shelby Salter reached on an error and Abby McKim eventually brought her home with a sacrifice fly. Hines got the 1-0 win for Brashear striking out 8 and surrendering only 1 hit. Shelmadine also struck out 8 and also allowed only 1 hit in the losing effort.

In the baseball game, Bevier struck in the top of the first as Pipes hit a 2-out double and Basler drove him in. Brashear answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st as Hayden Housman drew a 1-out walk, Nick Thomas singled, Cody Snelling walked, and Jay Scudder drove in Housman and Thomas with a fly ball to right. Bevier's other runs came in the 4th as Basler singled and Christensen drove him in with a 2-run homer. Meanwhile, Brashear scored 4 more in the 2nd as Adam Songer led off with a home run, Cody Snelling drew a 2-out walk, Hayden Coin reached on an error and Jay Scudder drove them in with a 2-rbi single. Nick Bradshaw then singled to bring in Scudder and Brashear was up 7-1. Brashear tacked on another 5 runs in the 3rd as Songer walked, Housman and Thomas singled, Snelling walked, Coin doubled, and Scudder singled. Brashear added 3 runs in the 4th as Songer reached on an error, Housman homered, and Snelling doubled. The Tigers won the 5-inning game by a score of 15-3. For Brashear, Nick Thomas had 3 hits, Jay Scudder had 2 hits and 4 rbi's, Hayden Housman had a homer and a single, Adam Songer homered, and Cody Snelling, Hayden Coin, and Nick Bradshaw had hits. For Bevier, Basler had 2 hits, Christensen homered, and Pipes, Ashenfelter, and Fiquet had hits. Cody Snelling was the winning pitcher for Brashear striking out 7. Christensen took the loss for Bevier with Basler pitching in relief.
