Bevier JH Basketball at Brashear October 26, 2010

The Bevier Wildcats visited the Brashear Tigers Tuesday night for a pair of Tri-County Conference basketball games. In the first quarter of the girls' game, neither team could find the range and Bevier ended up leading 3 free-throws to 1 free-throw for Brashear. Things turned around in the 2nd quarter as both teams found the range and traded baskets with the game being tied 11 to 11 at halftime. It was a close game in the 2nd half with neither team able to gain more than a 2-point advantage until Brashear sank a pair of free throws to take a 3 point lead a minute into the 4th quarter. Brashear expanded the lead to 7 points before Bevier made a run in the last 2 minutes. Bevier closed the gap to 3 points before Brashear answered and held on for a 29 to 22 win. Nikki Moncrief and Allison Thomson each scored 8 for Brashear, Ashley Moncrief had 7, and Alexa Acton scored 6 points. For Bevier, Shiloh Wilson scored 10 points, Memphis Buster added 9, Alyssa Gunnels had 2, and Rachel Lowe scored 1 point.

In the boys' game, Bevier scored 8 points in the 1st minute on their way to a 22 to 0 lead after 1 quarter. Brashear finally got on the scoreboard in the 2nd quarter, but Bevier extended their lead to 32 to 6 at halftime. Bevier continued to pressure during the 3rd quarter pushing their lead to 51-8 on the way to a 51 to 12 win. Luke Morrow scored 5 points for Brashear, Marcus Jefferson added 4, Sam Smith had 2, and Brody Henrich scored 1 point. For Bevier, Coby Peukert had 13 points, Jess Ashenfelter had 9, Seth Shurvington added 7, Brett Peukert, Aaron Deter, and Caleb Richardson scored 6 points each, and Andrew Peter had 4 points.
