Bucklin Baskeball at Brashear February 15, 2011

The Bucklin Bulldogs visited Brashear Tuesday for Senior Night. The Tigers celebrated Senior Night with a pair of Tri-County Conference wins with every senior getting in the scorebook.

In the girls' game, Brashear took an early lead of 15-7 after the first quarter, but let Bucklin climb back in the game during the 2nd quarter. Brashear's lead had dwindled to 25-21 at halftime. During the 2nd half, Brashear started to force Bucklin turnovers and converted them into quick points jumping out to a 47-23 lead after 3 quarters. The Lady Tigers picked up the win by a final score of 67-30. Brashear's scoring was led by Stephanie Elsea with 23 points, Meredith Thomas scored 16 points, Shelby Salter had 12, Abby McKim added 10, Sydney Slavin had 4, and Katie Smith scored 2 points. For Bucklin, Shelby Shoemaker scored 9 points, Allison Liebhart had 8, Taylor Bailey had 7, and Amanda Liebhart, Danica Cashatt, and Colby Davis scored 2 points each.

The Brashear boys took the lead early, but couldn't shake Bucklin who stayed close for almost 3 quarters of play. The host Tigers led 17-14 after the first quarter and 26-22 at halftime. Bucklin was often within 3 points in the 3rd quarter until a late surge put Brashear up 50-43 to start the 4th quarter. Things finally clicked for Brashear in the 4th quarter as they outscored Bucklin 21-7 in the final frame to claim a 71-50 win. Cody Snelling led all scorers with 19 points for Brashear, Nick Thomas added 14, Adam Songer had 12, Hayden Housman had 10, Joseph Woods and Taren Treasure had 5 points each, and Nick Bradshaw, Zach Reeves, and Jay Scudder each scored 2 points. For Bucklin, Jordan Harter had 17 points, Dustin Cashatt scored 15, Anthony Kitchen had 12, Marc Finney and Josh Molloy had 2 each, and Lake McCollum and Kevin Almond scored 1 point each.
