Brashear Sweeps Macon County September 1, 2011
The Tigers claim a pair of Tri-County Conference wins Thursday night.
The softball game between Brashear and Macon County didn't last long as Brashear pushed across 11 runs in the 1st, one in the 2nd, and three in the 3rd to claim a 15-0 three inning victory. Meredith Thomas, Nikkie Moncrief, Shelby Salter, and Ashley Moncrief had hits for Brashear. Cierra Hines had a perfect 3-inning game on the mound retiring 9 batters in order, 6 by strikeout. Lusher took the loss for Macon County.
The baseball game was up for grabs in the early going. Macon County scored 5 times in the top of the 1st with Brashear answering with 4 runs in the bottom of the inning. Macon County led 6-5 after 2 innings and were up 8-5 in the 3rd when Brashear's Nick Bradshaw belted a grand slam homer to put Brashear ahead 9-8. Macon tied the game at 9-all in the 4th, but a 6-run 5th put Brashear ahead for good for a 15-10 win. Bradshaw had a home-run for Brashear, Hayden Housman had a triple and a single, Gabe Thomas had 2 hits, and Curtis Blakely and Nick Gordon also had hits. Kincannon homered for Macon County with Klingsmith, Maddox, Moore, Porter, and Nolte also having hits. Nick Thomas and Hayden Housman pitched for Brashear with Liebhart, Duncan, and Maddox pitched for Macon County.
