Brashear 5th at Schuyler County Softball Tournament September 24, 2011

The Brashear Lady Tigers opened play in the Schuyler County Softball Tournament playing conference rival LaPlata. The game was a pitcher's duel as Brashear's Cierra Hines and LaPlata's Makay Belt held opposing batters in check for 7 scoreless innings. The game went into international tie breaker in the 8th and LaPlata managed to push across a run to claim the win 1-0. Meredith Thomas, Alli Garrett, and Katie Watson had hits for Brashear with Mallory Eitel having a single in the 3rd for LaPlata's lone hit. Cierra Hines took the loss for Brashear throwing a 1-hitter and striking out 13 with Makay Belt throwing a 3-hitter and striking out 3 to get the win.

Next up for Brashear was Novinger. Both teams scored a run in the 1st, but Brashear added 2 in the 2nd, one in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th, one in the 6th, and 5 in the 7th to claim a 12-4 win. Cierra Hines, Katie Smith, Katie Watson, and Kristen Love had 2 hits each for Brashear with Shelby Salter, Alexa Acton, and Alli Garrett also having hits. For Novinger, Jacques, Blackorby, Frost, Billington, and May had hits. Kristen Love and Cierra Hines pitched for Brashear with Gunnels pitching for Novinger.

Brashear faced Milan in the consolation game. The Tigers took an early lead with a run in the 1st, then blew the game open with a 9 run 3rd inning. Milan's only run came in the 5th as Brashear coasted to an 11-1 win. Meredith Thomas had 3 hits for Brashear including a 3rd inning grand slam, Katie Smith had 3 hits, and Shelby Salter, Katie Watson, and Alexa Acton also had hits. Dunlap had a pair of hits for Milan. Cierra Hines threw a 2-hitter, striking out 8 in the 5-inning win. Taylor pitched for Milan.
