In the first girls' game, Brashear jumped out to a 14-7 1st quarter lead and led 21-11 at halftime. Brashear extended their lead to 30-17 after three quarters and won their 1st round game 36-26. Allison Thompson and Mandy Taylor scored 8 points each for Brashear, Abby Kerby and Sidney Sykes had 5 each, Skylar Housman and Abby Hall had 4 each, and Alli Garrett scored 2 points. For Green City, Katharina Bryant scored 5 points, Blythe La Faver, Shawnee Noland, and Taylor Musselman had 4 each, Nichita Powell had 3, Shawnee Dolan and Jessica Phillips scored 2 each, and Sammy Banner and Abi MOrris scored 1 point each.
The second game of the evening featured the Brashear and Green City boys. Green City pressed their way to a 14-8 lead after one quarter, then turned up the heat and extended their lead to 31-10 at halftime. The second half was more of the same with Green City pulling away for a 56-21 win. Gabe Thomas and Colt Acton each scored 6 points for Brashear, Brody Henrichs had 4, Tristan Borron and Jacob Reeves had 2 each, and Chance Hill scored 1 point. For Green City, Keagan Franey scored 10 points, Jerrett McCarty and Zach Ayers had 8 each, Bradley Heath and Decker Reger had 6 each, Carter King scored 5, Jacob Chase and Kerby Barnes had 4 each, Wes Straley had 3, and Hadley Williams scored 2 points.
In other 1st round games, the LaPlata girls downed Bevier 34-17 and the LaPlata boys topped Bevier 43-37.
