Brashear vs Gilman City at NCMC Shootout December 22, 2011

The Brashear girls faced Gilman City at the NCMC Shootout. Gilman City only trailed 12-8 after one quarter of play, but Brashear's relentless defensive pressure started to wear down Gilman City allowing Brashear to take a 24-14 lead at halftime. The Lady Tigers never let up in the 2nd half and extended their lead to 33-17 after 3 quarters and won by a final score of 41-29. Olivia Thompson and Meredith Thomas scored 8 points each for Brashear, Katie Smith added 6, Miranda Creason and Ashley Moncrief had 5 each, Shelby Salter had 4, Nikki Moncrief had 3, and Alexa Acton scored 2 points. Saige Johnson scored 19 points for Gilman City, Morgan Mulnix had 6, Kady Sperry had 3, and Jill Newton scored 1 point.

The Brashear boys team also faced Gilman City. Gilman City had the hot hand in the 1st half, leading 16-9 after one quarter and 27-18 at halftime. Brashear came storming back after the half and led 31-30 after 3 quarters. When the clock finally ticked down, the score was tied at 41-all, but Brashear prevailed in overtime for a 46-43 win. Taren Treasure led all scorers with 28 points for Brashear, Joe Clarkson added 7, Joseph Woods had 5, Hayden Housman had 4, and Tristan Smith scored 2 points. For Gilman City, Carey scored 18, Ward had 16, Burians had 6, Rourer had 2, and Cox scored 1 point.
