North Shelby Tournament Monday January 16, 2012

The Brashear Lady Tigers squared off against the Scotland County Lady Tigers for the 2nd time in a week Monday night. After losing 51-13 in the first meeting, Brashear came ready to make some adjustments. Neither team managed much offense in the early going and Brashear actually led 6-4 with a couple minutes left in the 1st, but that would be their only lead. Scotland County ended the 1st quarter with a 9-6 lead and took a 25-10 lead into halftime. Scotland County continued their dominance in the 2nd half, leading 37-15 after 3 quarters and winning 56-18. Chandi March scored 6 points for Brashear, Shelby Salter added 4, and Olivia Thompson, Miranda Creason, Katie Smith, and Nikki Moncrief scored 2 points each. For Scotland County, Megan Creek scored 20 points, Courtney Jackson had 13, Hailey Dial added 8, Cali Holt had 4, Bethany Rader had 3, and Kiley Frazier scored 2 points.

In the other girls' game, North Shelby defeated LaPlata 45-31. In boys' action, LaPlata downed Palmyra JV 62-34 and the North Shelby boys beat Knox County 72-46.
