Brashear at Knox County January 30, 2012

Brashear visited Knox County Monday night for a non-conference basketball double-header. The host Lady Eagles jumped out to a 17-4 lead after one quarter and were up 36-14 at halftime. Brashear continued to struggle on offense in the 2nd half and Knox County pulled away for a 69-31 win. Shelby Salter scored 11 points for Brashear, Chandi March and Nikki Moncrief had 5 each, Ashley Moncrief had 4, and Olivia Thompson, Katie Smith, and Meredith Thomas scored 2 points each. For Knox County, Hannah Strange scored 20 points, Kathleen Hinkle added 12, Kelsey Cahalan had 7, Lauren Dale and Sarah Dooley scored 6 each, Shanna Elder, McKaiya Miller, and Kelly Bruns had 4 each, Devin Gudhus had 3, Taylor Lincoln had 2, and Alex Hamlin scored 1 point.

The Brashear boys had the hot hand early and jumped out to an early 11-2 lead, but Knox County battled back to trail by only 11-10 at the end of the 1st quarter. Knox County took the lead in the 2nd quarter and were up 23-15 at halftime. Brashear continued to hang around in the 2nd half and trailed by as little as 9 points midway through the 4th quarter, but Knox County held on and won by a final score of 60-41. Joe Clarkson scored 15 points for Brashear, Taren Treasure had 10, and Joseph Woods and Hayden Housman scored 8 points each. For Knox County, Royce Poore scored 28 points, Andrew Hunolt added 9, Donovan Edwards had 8, Leighton McCabe and Kellen Gillaspy had 6 each, Sharri Edwards had 2, and Jesse Miller scored 1 point.
