Brashear at Macon County February 3, 2012

The Brashear basketball teams visited Macon County Friday night for a Tri-County Conference double-header. Throughout the 1st period, both teams struggled to put points on the board with Macon County holding a slim 7-6 lead going into the 2nd quarter. Macon County found the range in the 2nd quarter and led Brashear 22-16 at the half. Macon County continued to outscore Brashear in the 2nd half and led 33-24 after 3 quarters and won by a score of 45-34. Shelby Salter led the Brashear scoring with 17 points, Olivia Thompson added 7, Meredith Thomas had 6, and Katie Smith and Alexa Acton scored 2 points each. For Macon County, Shelbie Nolte scored 13 points, Bailey Ratliff had 12, Sara Duncan had 6, Kailey Grinder added 5, Cassandra Peterson had 3, and Emily Timmerman and Jackie Rowe scored 2 points each.

It was a big night for a couple of players in the boy's game. Brashear's Taren Treasure led all scorers with 32 points, but it was an even bigger night for Macon County's Aaron Maddox who reached his 1000th career point on the way to scoring 26 on the evening. Both teams came out shooting the ball and the score was knotted at 18-all after one quarter of play. It was still a one possession game at halftime as Macon County led 37-34. After the half, Macon County increased their lead to 53-46 after 3 quarters and won 75-66. Brashear scoring was led by Taren Treasure with 32, Hayden Housman had 18, Joe Clarkson chipped in 16. For Macon County, Aaron Maddox scored 16 points, Jacob Klingsmith added 18, Alex Porter had 16, Dillon Nolte had 11, and Damon Porter and Christopher Nolte scored 2 points each.
