Novinger Tournament November 26, 2012

The Novinger Tournament got underway Monday. The top seeded Scotland County girls picked up a 50-28 win over 8th seed Bevier, and the 5th seeded LaPlata girls pulled a mild 46-31 upset over #4 seed Atlanta. On the boys side, #4 Atlanta defeated #5 Bevier 61-51 and the top seeded Novinger boys downed Brashear 66-28.

In the late boys game, Brashear's Hayden Housman won the tip and later scored on the possession to put the Tigers up 2-0 on Novinger. Brashear made the 2-0 lead stand up for the first two minutes before Novinger got on the scoreboard, but Novinger played some tough defense as they built a 33-16 lead at halftime. Top seeded Novinger came out smoking after the half and put up 27 points in the 3rd quarter while their defense held Brashear to only 4 points. Brashear outscored the Wildcats 8-6 in the 4th as Novinger cruised to a 66-28 win. T.J. Harrelson led Brashear scoring coming off the bench for 10 second half points, Hayden Housman had 6, Luke Morrow and Chance Hill scored 4 points each, Jacob Reeves had 3, and Jeremy Barnes scored 1 point. For Novinger, Blake Smith scored 18 points, Trent Rodman and Keaton Tade had 16 each, Justin Klingsmith scored 14, and Trae Brownell scored 2 points.
