Linn County at Brashear December 4, 2012

The Linn County Mustangs visited Brashear Tuesday for the Tigers varsity basketball home opener. The Lady Mustangs came out pushing the pace and jumped out to an early lead, but Brashear battled back to within 12-8 after one quarter of play and 26-21 at halftime. The Lady Tigers finally caught up and tied the game in the early part of the 3rd quarter only to see Linn County pull away again for a 57-44 win. Allison Thompson led Brashear scoring with 14 points, Olivia Thompson and Miranda Creason had 8 points each, Shelby Salter had 6, Meredith Thomas had 4, Nikkie Moncrief had 3, and Skylar Housman scored 1 point. Linn County was paced by Maci Hullinger with 20 points, Megan Schreiner had 11, Britane Hubbard scored 10, Cammie Ward added 4, Kerstin Wilson, Kelsey Barber, and Mindy Hayes had 3 each, Lauren Russell had 2, and Kiley Stillwell scored 1 point.

Linn County got off to a fast start in the boys game taking a 26-5 lead after one quarter of play. Fueled by 8 first half 3-pointers, 5 by Josh Allen alone, the Mustangs ran up a 44-15 lead at halftime. Linn County continued to dominate play in the 2nd half as they cruised to a 68-24 win. Hayden Housman scored 12 points for Brashear, Chance Hill added 8, Nick Bradshaw had 2, and Luke Morrow and Jeremy Barnes scored 1 point each. For Linn County, Josh Allen scored 23 points, Anthony McCollum added 13, Ty Stillwell had 11, Bryar Bookout had 7, Derrek Wilson scored 6, Lucas Woodside had 4, Logan Brinkley had 3, and Spencer Hostetter scored 1 point.
