Schuyler County at Brashear January 4, 2013

The Schuyler County Rams basketball squads visited the Brashear Tigers for a pair of non-conference games Friday night. The Lady Rams and Lady Tigers traded scores for most of the 1st quarter before Schuyler County had a big 2nd quarter surge to take a 27-15 lead at halftime. Brashear never could close the gap in the 2nd half and Schuyler County won by a final score of 62-34. Miranda Creason led Brashear scoring with 8 points, Olivia Thompson and Meredith Thomas added 7 each, Shelby Salter and Nikkie Moncrief had 4 each, and Allison Thompson and Skylar Housman scored 2 points each. For Schuyler County, Caley Sessions scored 22 points, Mallory Haley had 12, Whitney McElhinney added 10, Nikki Rowland had 8, Abbey Wheeler and Laynee Schubert had 4 each, and Jacqueline Bushnell scored 2 points.

In the boys' game, Schuyler County jumped out to an 11-0 lead before Brashear got on the scoreboard. The Rams led 15-5 after one quarter and 25-15 at halftime. Schuyler County still led by 10 points, 36-26, after 3 quarters, but Brashear rallied in the 4th and tied the game 39-39 by mid quarter. Over the last 4 minutes, Schuyler got a few more shots to fall for them and they held on for a 46-41 win. Jacob Reeves led all scorers with 22 points for Brashear, Hayden Houman added 15, and Chance Hill and Gabe Thomas scored 2 points each. For Schuyler County, Dalton Shively and Lane Gray shared scoring honors with 14 points each, Brandon Wuebker had 7, Nathan Wheeler added 4, Daniel Haley had 3, and Drew Bruner and Devin Ward scored 2 points each.
