Novinger Softball and Baseball at Brashear September 10, 2013

The Novinger Lady Cats visited Brashear Tuesday for softball. Brashear got on the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the 1st and another in the 2nd. No more scoring occured until the 5th when Novinger got on the scoreboard with a pair of runs. Brashear answered with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Novinger added one more run in the 6th, but Brashear slammed the door with a 1-2-3 7th to hang on for a 5-3 win. Sidney Sykes, Alli Garrett, Alexa Acton, Nikki Woods, and Skylar Housman had hits for Brashear. Findling, Young, Eads, and Findling had hits for Novinger. Alexa Acton got the win for Brashear, striking out 6. Maria Gunnels took the loss for Novinger striking out 7.

The Brashear baseball team was forced to forfeit due to only having 8 players available. The two teams played a scrimmage. Novinger scored the first run of the game in the top of the 2nd and added 3 more in the 3rd. Brashear scored twice in the bottom of the 3rd and the score was still 4-2 after 4 innings. Novinger pushed across another run in the 5th on a Brownell homer making the score 5-2 after 5 innings. Novinger put the game away in the 6th, scoring 9 runs to make the final score 14-2. Chance Hill, Jacob Bleything, Sam Smith, and Tyler Watson had hits for Brashear. Ortega, Roberts, Smith, Klingsmith, Brownell, Roberts, Parks, Garzanelli, and Mansfield had hits for Novinger. Luke Morrow got the start for Brashear, striking out 7 in 4 innings of work. Chance Hill pitched in relief. Mansfield and Parks pitched for Novinger.
