LaPlata Softball and Baseball at Brashear September 13, 2013
Brashear hosted the LaPlata Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs Friday night for a Tri-County Conference softball-baseball double-header. Brashear started the night's scoring in the softball game as Meredith Thomas led off with a single and scored. LaPlata went down in order to make the score 1-0 after one inning of play. LaPlata's Davison singled and scored in the 2nd to knot the game at 1-1 and the game remained tied until Brashear scored 7 times in the bottom of the 4th. The Lady Tigers would add another run in the 5th and another in the 6th to make the final score 11-1. Meredith Thomas and Skylar Housman had 2 hits each for Brashear, Ashley Moncrief doubled, and Mandy Taylor and Kylie Williams also had hits. Lene, Gregory, Davison, and White had hits for LaPlata. Alexa Acton pitched for Brashear, striking out 6. Lene took the loss for LaPlata.
After Brashear picked up the win in the softball game, things were much different in the baseball game. LaPlata scored 6 first-inning runs, but Brashear answered with 3 of their own in the bottom of the 1st. Chance Hill, Colt Acton, and Gabe Thomas all reached base safely with Thomas driving in Hill, and Luke Morrow driving in the other 2. That was all of the scoring for Brashear, while LaPlata continued to add runs, eventually winning 16-3. Chance Hill, Colt Acton, Gabe Thomas, and Luke Morrow had hits for Brashear. Safely, Brown, Bolden, Davison, and Payne had hits for LaPlata. Luke Morrow and Chance Hill pitched for Brashear. Safely picked up the win for LaPlata.
