The Brashear JH Tigers and Lady Tigers kicked off their basketball season at the Green City Tournament Thursday night. The Lady Tigers fell behind Green City 10-6 after one quarter of play and trailed 19-10 at the half. The Lady Gophers put the game away in the 3rd quarter, holding Brashear scoreless while scoring 14 points to extend their lead to 33-10. Brashear bounced back to outscore Green City 11-6 in the final quarter, but Green City won by a score of 39-21. For Brashear, Robbyn Wagster had 9 points, Hailey Lawrence and Caitlee Hall had 4 each, and Hannah Reeves and Saydie Potter scored 2 points each. For Green City, Rachael Search scored 10 points, Jessica Phillips had 9, Taylor Musselman had 8, Kelsey Howard had 7, Rayanna Smith and Kassi Straley had 2 each and Nicole Embree scored 1 point.

The Brashear boys also faced Green City in their first round game. Green City put up 21 first quarter points and 14 second quarter points to take a 35-0 lead at the halfway mark. Brashear never could get anything going offensively and Green City pulled away for a 50-0 win. Nathan Chase led Green City's scoring with 11 points.
