Brashear Boys vs Scotland County at the Novinger Tournament December 2, 2013
The Brashear boys faced Scotland County in the first round of play at the Novinger Tournament Monday night. Neither team shot well in the early going, but transition points helped push Scotland County out to a 13-2 lead after one quarter of play. Brashear started to get things going with 9 second quarter points, but Scotland caught fire scoring 17 to take a 30-11 lead into halftime. Scotland County left no doubt as to their number 1 seed in the second half, extending their lead to 59-16 after 3 quarters on their way to a 69-21 win. Jacob Reeves led Brashear scoring with 10 points, Gabe Thomas had 4, Luke Morrow added 3, Sam Smith had 2, and Colt Acton and Jacob Bleything scored 1 point each. For Scotland County, Bailey Johnston scored 19 points, Kyler Burkhiser added 13, Lucas Howard had 11, Cordie Kigar had 10, Jacob Hull had 5, Caleb Doubet and Brice Cowell scored 4 each, and Jade Holt and Zach Doubet scored 2 points each.
In the other Monday night boys' game, Bevier topped Atlanta 65-49. In girls action, Green City defeated LaPlata 25-18, and Scotland County downed Bevier 47-19.
