Brashear Boys vs Atlanta at the Novinger Tournament December 4, 2013
The Brashear and Atlanta boys' teams squared off Wednesday night in a second round consolation bracket game at the Novinger Tournament. Both offenses got off to a slow start with Brashear holding a 7-6 lead after one quarter. Brashear's shooting heated up in the 2nd, with Brashear pulling out to a 29-16 lead at the half. Atlanta started chipping away at the Brashear lead in the 2nd half, closing the gap to 37-32 after 3 quarters of play. By midway through the 4th, Atlanta had overtaken Brashear on the scoreboard and went on to a 51-48 win. Chance Hill scored 16 points for Brashear, Luke Morrow had 11, Jacob Reeves added 9, Jacob Bleything had 5, Colt Acton had 5, and Gabe Thomas scored 1 point. For Atlanta, Lane Waddle and Lance Weber scored 13 points each, Korbin Gunnels had 11, Collan Thrasher had 5, and Justin Grigsby, Matt Howlett, and Chase Wait scored 3 points each.
In the championship boys' semi-final, Bevier defeated Scotland County 73-53. In girls' play, Scotland County downed Green City 41-30 in the championship semi-finals and Bevier topped LaPLata 33-26 in the consolation semi-final game.
