Brashear at Meadville January 9, 2014
The Brashear Tigers made their first visit to Meadville's Thursday. Meadville joined the Tri-County Conference this year. The Lady Tigers got off to a slow start as Meadville jumped out to a 16-2 lead after one quarter. The Lady Eagles extended their lead to 30-10 at halftime. Brashear had their best quarter in the 4th, outscoring Meadville 16 to 10, but Meadville got the win by a final score of 54-31. Ashley Moncrief scored 6 points for Brashear, Meredith Thomas had 5, Sidney Sykes, Mandy Taylor, and Hailey Lawrence scored 4 points each, Skylar Housman had 3, Abi Kerby and Abby Hall had 2 each, and Allison Thompson scored 1 point. For Meadville, Haley Fitzpatrick scored 25 points, Halee Neil added 10, Reagin Kline had 6, Emilie Cowan had 5, Sara VanDyke scored 4, and Shelby Holcer and Tamara Evans scored 2 points each.
The Meadville boys also got off to a quick start, leading Brashear 17-4 after one quarter and 40-11 at halftime. Brashear offense never heated up in the 2nd half, and Meadville cruised to a 71-18 win. Chance Hill scored 8 points for Brashear, Colt Acton added 5, Gabe Thomas had 3, and Jacob Bleything scored 2 points. For Meadville, Cade Shiflett scored 16 points, TJ Schmitz had 14, Logan Newlin added 9, Ryan Young had 8, Kolton Friesnet had 7, Daniel Murphy and Tyler Dinsmore had 4 each, Dalton Palmer had 3, and Joel Martin, Nolan Kiehl, Tarran Baker, and Blake Burkholder scored 2 points each.
