Brashear at Schuyler County January 10, 2014
The Brashear Tigers traveled to play the Schuyler County Rams Friday night. In the girls' game, the Lady Rams jumped out to a 16-3 first quarter lead and were up 35-16 at halftime. The Lady Tigers couldn't close the gap in the 2nd half and Schuyler County picked up a 55-26 win. Meredith Thomas scored 7 points for Brashear, Ashley Moncrief and Mandy Tayler had 6 each, Abi Kerby had 3, and Allison Thompson and Hailey Lawrence scored 2 points each. For Schuyler County, Summer Small scored 18 points, Caley Sessions added 11, Laynee Schubert had 10, Amber VanLandingham had 6, and Katherine Buckallwe, Molly McNabb, Darius Farmer, Katelyn Metz, and Megan Haley scored 2 points each.
Brashear got on the scoreboard 1st in the boys' game, but Schuyler quickly took the lead and looked to extend it until Brashear made a late run to close within 31-22 at halftime. Brashear stayed within striking distance in the 1st half of the 3rd quarter, but Schuyler Count took advantage of Brashear's foul trouble and opened the lead to 56-29 at the end of 3 quarters of play. The Rams continued to play 'A' on 'B' well into the 4th quarter and pulled away for a 77-35 win. Jacob Reeves scored 11 points for Brashear, Jacob Bleything and Chance Hill had 7 each, Colt Acton had 6, and Devin Morrison and Patrick Jochimsen scored 2 points each. For Schuyler County, Lane Gray scored 17 points, Braden Roberts added 13, Keaton Nelson had 11, Sabastian Grant had 10, Mikel Wheeler and Daniel Haley had 8 each, Matt March had 5, Justin Seaton had 3, and Nathaniel Wheeler scored 2 points.
