Bevier at Brashear January 17, 2014
The Bevier Wildcats visited Brashear Friday night for a Tri-County Conference double-header. The girls game was close in the early going with Brashear holding a 14-13 lead after one quarter and 29-25 at halftime. The game stayed close as Bevier trailed 37-31 after 3 quarters before Brashear pulled away in the 4th to win 50-38. Meredith Thomas led all scorers with 15 points for Brashear, Mandy Taylor added 12, Ashley Moncrief had 7, Abi Kerby and Allison Thompson had 6 each, and Skylar Housman scored 4 points. For Bevier, Rachel Lowe and Memphis Buster scored 11 points each, Beth Ashenfelter had 7, Caiti Bradley had 6, and Karissa Harrington scored 3 points.
The boys game was close in the 1st half with Bevier leading 11-10 after one quarter and 25-18 at halftime. Bevier's shooting heated up in the 2nd half as they led 41-28 after 3 quarters on the way to a 64-37 win. Jacob Reeves scored 14 points for Brashear, Jacob Bleything had 7, Sam Smith and Chance Hill scored 5 each, and Tristin Smith, Colt Acton, and Tyler Watson scored 2 points each. For Bevier, Colby Peukert scored 21 points, Seth Shurvington had 11, Andrew Peter added 10, Luke Long and Lee Allen had 8 each, Caleb Richardson had 4, and Tony Humphreys scored 2 points.
