Brashear at Meadville September 22, 2014
The Tigers got on the bus Monday for the longest trip in the conference to Meadville. The softball game began with Brashear scoring a run in the top of the 1st. Brashear added 2 in the 2nd, 2 in the 4th, 3 in the 5th and single runs in the 6th and 7th. Meadville's run came in the 5th as Brashear cruised to a 10-1 win. Mandy Taylor and Hannah Reeves had 3 hits each for Brashear, Skylar Housman had 2 hits, and Harli Mihalevich, Erin Bradshaw, Abi Kerby, Sidney Sykes, and Abby Hall also had hits. Sidney Sykes picked up the win on the mound, striking out 9.
The Tigers got of to a quick start in the baseball game as they got on the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the top of the 1st. Brashear then retired Meadville in order in the bottom of the first to hold a 2-0 lead. Meadville picked up a run in the 2nd, then two more in the 4th to take the lead 3-2. Brashear retook the the lead 4-3 in the top of the 6th only to see Meadville answer with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 6th to retake the lead 5-4. Brashear wasn't done yet, scoring a run to tie the game at 5-5 in the 7th and forcing extra innings. Brashear once again took the lead 7-6 with a run in the top of the 8th, but couldn't close it out surrenduring 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th to allow Meadville to escape with an 8-7 win. Gabe Thomas had 3 hits for Brashear, Colt Acton and Zane Sykes had 2 each, with William Jordan also having a hit. Gabe Thomas got the start for Brashear going 7 innings and striking out 9. Chance Hill pitched in relief.
