Marion County Softball/Baseball at Brashear September 27, 2016

The Marion County Mustangs were in town Tuesday night. In the softball game, Brashear jumped on the scoreboard with 5 runs in the 1st and 2 in the 2nd, then ended the game after 6 innings with a 4 run outburst to win 11-1. Marion County's only run was unearned in the 5th as Averi Acton pitched a no-hitter for the win. Hailey Lawrence had 2 hits for Brashear, with Harli Mihalevich, Averi Acton, Alexa Higgins, Mechalia Potter, and Hannah Reeves also having hits. Two key at-bats came in the bottom of the 6th as Megan McHenry and Mechalia Potter drove in the final 2 runs to end the game.

In the baseball game, Brashear's Jacob Bleything was tough on the Marion County hitters, retiring the 1st 10 batters in order. Marion County managed to string together a walk and a pair of hits in the 4th to score 2 runs. Meanwhile, Bleything helped his own cause with a 3-run blast in the 1st to give Brashear the lead for good as they won 12-2 in five innings. Bleything also had a double for Brashear, Aden Zentz had a pair of hits, with Colt Acton, Breht Place, Sebastian Melendez, and Drew Ford also having hits. Ford's hit ended the game in the 5th. Bleything went the distance on the mound for Brashear, striking out 10.
