ADAIR COUNTY R-II NEWSLETTER
April 1, 2008 Brashear, Missouri
DIRECTV4SCHOOLS FUNDRAISING PROGRAM
With the
news that Eaglevision will no longer be serving our community, the school
district researched options for cable and/or satellite service to the school. We found that DIRECTV had a free service
provided for schools and we have started the process to receive those
services. In addition, Brashear High
School has enrolled in the DIRECTV4Schools fundraising program for the 2007-08
school year. Through DIRECTV4Schools,
our school will receive a cash contribution for every new ($100), existing or
returning ($50) DIRECTV customer who commits to a year of DIRECTV satellite
television service using our school code.
We will
be receiving our school code in the next day or two, so feel free to call in
and request that code if you are a DIRECTV customer or might choose DIRECTV in
the future. We will also be sending out
letters with our students next week that will list the code.
To
participate, simply call 1-888-388-4724, use our school code and sign up for
DIRECTV. With the help of families like
yours, DIRECTV4Schools is an easy way for us to raise the funds we need for the
special programs, equipment, and events that enrich our students' learning
experiences.
For more
information on this program, please visit www.directv4schools.com.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
We will
be conducting our annual Kindergarten registration on Monday, April 28, from
9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the elementary school. All district children who will be 5 years old prior to August 1,
2008 are eligible to register for Kindergarten for the 2008-2009 school
year. Please plan to bring your child’s
birth certificate and immunization records with you on that day.
JOB SHADOWING
In February
and March all students in grades 5, 7, and 10 were able to job shadow someone
in a job they are interested in. We
appreciate all the local businesses who helped us in this endeavor. It is a very important activity in our
students career development as they begin to explore and see what kinds of
careers they are interested in for their future.
APRIL ELECTION
Tuesday, April 8, 2008 is Election
Day. Patrons of the Adair County R-II
School District will be voting to elect three school board members.
This year we have had four
candidates file for the three available positions. Those who have filed include incumbent Traci Hill, incumbent
Douglas Clarkson, incumbent Curtis Gordon, and Shelley Story.
TESTING BEGINS
Testing
begins for the high school on Monday, March 31 and runs through Thursday, April
3. For elementary, the dates are April 14-24.
Please help us with this process by ensuring that your student is here
each day of testing. You can also help
by providing a good breakfast and ensuring they get a good nights sleep during
this time. Please try not to schedule
appointments during this time. If it
becomes unavoidable, please let the school know as soon as you can about any
absences so testing can be rescheduled for your student.
