BOARD ELECTION
NEWS
There will be three open seats for the Board of Education election on
April 8, 2014. The incumbents are
Curtis Gordon, Traci Hill and Alissa Garlock.
Those elected will serve three-year terms. The first day for candidates to file is Tuesday, December 17,
2013 at 8:00 a.m. The last day for
candidates to file will be Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.
A candidate must be a U.S. citizen, a resident taxpayer of the Adair
County R-II School District, have resided in the state of Missouri for at least
one year preceding the election, and be at least 24 years of age.
Candidates may be required to file a financial interest statement and
must agree to obtain 16 hours of credit in school boardmanship within 12 months
of the election.
Interested candidates may pick up filing materials in the
Superintendent’s office beginning on Tuesday, December 17 at 8:00 a.m. The superintendent’s office will be closed
December 23-January 1 and therefore will not be accepting candidates filing on
those dates. Regular business hours
will resume on Thursday, January 2. On
January 21, the office will remain open until 5:00 p.m. for filing
purposes. Questions? Call the Superintendent’s office at 323-5272
during regular business hours.
Citizens have until Wednesday, March 12, 2014 to register to vote in the
April general election.
INCLEMENT
WEATHER
As the
winter season approaches, we are reminding parents and students to listen to
the local media stations to check on “early dismissals” and/or “no school”
bulletins. This information will be
given to KTVO television, KHQA television, WGEM television, KIRX radio, KTUF
radio, KRXL radio, KRES radio of Moberly, KMEM radio of Memphis, and KZBK radio
of Brookfield. These stations will
present dismissal information as soon as decisions have been made. Please do not call the school.

MUSIC NEWS
The
annual Christmas program will take place on Thursday, December 12th, at 7:00
p.m. in the High School Gymnasium. The
bands from grades 5-12, all vocal groups K-12 and several soloists will
perform. We hope you will come and
share this Christmas tradition with us.
Congratulations
to Abby Hall on making 13th chair clarinet in the All-District Band. The band will rehearse and perform on
Saturday, January 11th at Moberly.
Congratulations to Leah Grissom, Eliza Magruder, Morgan
Magruder, Megan McHenry, Wyatt Potter, and Hannah Reeves on being selected to
the Northeast Missouri Music Educators Association All-District Junior High
Honor Band. This band is selected from
over 40 middle and junior high schools across northeast and mid Missouri. They will join other accomplished junior
high musicians for a band concert at Macon High School on Saturday, February
15th.
SCHOOL TO HOST
PINK OUT GAME
The Brashear
School will be hosting a “Pink Out” basketball game between the Brashear Tigers
and the LaPlata Bulldogs on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in honor of
all who are currently fighting or those who have lost their battle with cancer.
T-shirts
are available for public purchase before the game and all proceeds from the
sale of the t-shirts will be given to the American Cancer Society. If you would like to purchase t-shirts,
please complete the order form below and return it to the school. We must have your order by MONDAY,
DECEMBER 2.
The
following design will be printed on light pink Gildan t-shirts (Rabbit Skins
brand for Infant/Toddler sizes).
Imprint colors will be black and hot pink. The cost will be $12 for 2T through Adult XLarge. XXL and XXXL will be $14.

HOLIDAY GIFT
AND CRAFT SHOW
The varsity cheerleaders are sponsoring their 2nd Annual
Holiday Gift and Craft Show to be held on Saturday, December 14th from 9:00
a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in the high school gym.
Vendors will offer tutus, bows, embroidery, crochet, scrap booking,
Christmas ornaments, primitive signs, wreaths, handmade baskets, sewing, baked
goods, metal works, wood working, jewelry, hand bags, Tupperware, and much
more! The cheerleaders will have a gift
wrapping station available. Admission
is free. Most of the vendors are
donating items for our raffle. Tickets
will be sold at the door: 6 for $5, 12 for $10, or a stretch of the arms worth
for $20! Need not be present to
win!
The Brashear After Prom Committee will be serving coffee and
donuts in the cafeteria that morning and a soup luncheon will be available from
10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

and juice. Students may choose cereal
instead of the breakfast item offered.
The following items are offered daily for students to choose from in
lieu of the lunch entrée: yogurt or a WOWBUTTER® (peanut butter replacement)
and jelly sandwich.
