SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION WEEK
Missourians
benefit every day from the dedicated energies and countless hours devoted by a
group of more than 3,600 men and women in every community across the
state. These public servants are
elected by local constituents and do not receive compensation for their
tireless efforts. These men and women
are the local school board members of Missouri.
During the week
of January 27-31, communities across the state honored the dedicated service of
local boards of education during School Board Recognition Week, as proclaimed
by Governor Jay Nixon. The goal is to
build awareness and understanding of the important function an elected board of
education plays in communities and schools.
All Missouri citizens are asked to recognize the important contributions
of these men and women and focus attention on the vital role school boards play
in the education of Missouri's children.
The students and
staff of the Adair County R-II School District extend sincere appreciation for
the dedication of those who serve on the district’s Board of Education.

on Saturday, January 18th.

IMPLEMENTING TWO HOUR DELAY
We will use a 2 hour delayed start for schools
if the conditions warrant. Here is how
it will work. We will have a straight 2
hour delay at the start of school. On
these days, school will start at 10:15 a.m. for 7-12 students and 10:20 a.m.
for K-6 students. There will be NO
BREAKFAST served. Once the students
arrive at school, the day will run as normal and dismiss at our regular times.
Buses will run exactly 2 hours after their
normal time. So, if your child normally
gets on the bus at 7:15 a.m., they will get on at 9:15 a.m. on delayed start
days.
PAT PROGRAM
The Parents as
Teachers program is a development-centered program offered by our school
district for parents and their children ages prenatal to 5 years of age, Pre-K
level. This is a state and federally
funded program, free of charge, to families wanting to learn more about their
children’s early development.
Parents as
Teachers focuses on three areas of emphasis:
parent/child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family
well-being. Each area of emphasis is
designed to help the parent become more knowledgeable about their child’s
growth and development through interacting more with their children and to give
each family a sense of well-being by providing them with helpful
resources. The program offers home
visits by a parent educator who will provide age appropriate curriculum and
activities and useful resources for the parents and their children.
To learn more
about the program, please contact Chelsea Coe, Parent Educator, at (660)
323-5272 ext. 33 or email her at chelsea_coe@brashear.k12.mo.us
