REQUEST
FOR HISTORYOF BRASHEAR SCHOOL
Through a Missouri Community Service Commission Mini-Grant, a group of students in the elementary school will be researching the history of Brashear School. In pursuing this project they would like to visit with senior citizens who attended the school in its earlier years. If you know of someone in the community who could provide some rich stories, please give the school a call and leave your name and contact information. We appreciate your help.
RED CROSS DONATION
Since the first of October, the resource students have been making flag pins. They sold small pins for $.50 and large pins for $1.00. As of December 19th they have collected a total of $312 for the pins. This brings the total raised for the victims of September 11th to over $615 from the resource classes. All funds have gone to the American Red Cross. Thank you for your support.

RESULTS OF APR
The
Annual Performance Report (APR) shows the district’s status on the Missouri
School Improvement Program (MSIP) Performance Standards. The report is intended to assist districts
as they refine improvement plans for all students. The APR allows us to know where we are in the “eyes” of the state
department and it provides us with insight
on the direction we need to take for the future.
The
report measures the district in thirteen categories. Thirteen out of 13 categories were met with 109 points out of 109
possible points scored. This will
become very important to our district next year, as we will be going through
the Third-Cycle MSIP Review. We are currently
performing at an outstanding level thanks to the dedication of parents,
students, and staff. I look forward to
continued success and praise your combined efforts that led us to this truly
remarkable accomplishment.
Mrs.
Bradley
We recently initiated a fund
drive to raise our library collection to the standards set forth by the
Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Our library collection is in fair to good
condition in all areas except for reference and non-fiction. In those areas, we are lacking approximately
30 and 685 books, respectively. At a
cost of approximately $21 per book, the estimated amount needed to fully stock
our library collection is approximately $15,000.
We would like to take this
opportunity to thank one of our benefactors, Dr. Neal Primm. Dr. Primm is a graduate of Brashear High
School and author of Gateway to the West, a history of St. Louis. After giving us a generous donation, Dr.
Primm challenged our school district to raise additional funds toward our
goal. We have indeed raised additional
funds and Dr. Primm has generously offered us another donation.
Other benefactors include
John Slavin, Becky Thomas, Diane Bradley, Kay Frost, and Connie Lewis. We offer our thanks to these contributors,
as well.
