ADAIR COUNTY R-II NEWSLETTER

2012 RESULTS OF APR
State education officials have released final 2012 Annual
Performance Reports (APR) for all public schools. The APR serves as the report card to the public on how well
school districts are meeting state standards for academic performance.
The APR provides a five-year progress report and enables state and
local school officials to monitor trends and ensure schools are serving their
students’ educational needs. In
addition to identifying schools that are performing well, the APR reveals which
schools are lagging behind and need extra assistance to improve instruction.
The APR has been part of the state’s school improvement program,
which began in 1990. The academic
performance results are used by the State Board of Education in accreditation
determinations. Each school district
has its accreditation status reviewed about every five years by the State
Board.
The report measures the district in each of the following
categories. Each of the Performance
Measures for K-12 districts will be designated either “Met” or “Not Met”
according to the published Scoring Guide for that school year.

14 out of 14 performance standards were met as criteria for the
Missouri School Improvement Program through the Department of Elementary and
Secondary Education.
Based on the final APR scores, our district qualified for the
state’s “Distinction in Performance” recognition. This recognition is reserved for K-12 school districts that meet
at least 13 out of 14 performance standards.
Districts also must meet all academic standards tied to the 2011-2012
Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) results.
We are very pleased to have achieved this high mark. As pleased as we are with these results, we
know that there is still room for improvement and we plan to look closely at
the results and make plans to address areas of need.
