SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION
WEEK
Missourians
benefit every day from the dedicated energies and countless hours devoted by a
group of more than 3,600 men and women across the state. These public servants are elected by local
constituents and do not receive compensation for their tireless efforts. These men and women are the local school
board members of Missouri.
During the week
of January 25-31, communities across the state will honor the dedicated service
of local boards of education during School Board Recognition Week, as
proclaimed by Governor Jay Nixon. The
goal is to build awareness and understanding of the important function an
elected board of education plays in communities and school. All Missouri citizens are encouraged to
recognize the important contributions of these men and women and focus
attention on the vital role school boards play in the education of Missouri’s
children.
The students and
staff of the Adair County R-II School District extend sincere appreciation for
the dedication of those who serve on the district’s Board of Education.

INSTRUMENTS NEEDED
Do you have any
used band instruments you would like to donate or sell to the school? If so, please contact us! We are looking to build our band in order to
provide a fuller sound with more members and varied instruments. Donations will be gladly accepted but we
would also consider buying instruments.
Currently, we are looking for saxophones (tenor, alto, and baritone),
tubas, and percussion instruments.
If you or
someone you know may have any “just gathering dust”, give us a call!

THE SCOTLAND CLARK
PROJECT
Change for a
change. We are collecting change for
The Scotland Clark Project to help
make a change for others. Scotland
passed away in September from heart problems.
Her mom and dad were once Brashear students, her family still works at
Brashear School, and the project is to help others who have sick children or
have lost a child. Two families
have already been helped. It is a wonderful tribute to a precious
little girl. Will you give change to
help make a change for others? Donation
buckets are located in the elementary and high school. For more information, please visit www.scotlandclarkproject.org.
SNACK POLICY REMINDER
In an effort to
be sensitive to students with food allergies, the Brashear Elementary School
has a snack policy. Effective August
2012, all snacks that are brought in to share must be store bought, prepackaged
food items. Homemade food items will
not be served. Items such as fruit
that come in their natural package are acceptable. Please avoid items that contain nuts or are manufactured in a
facility that processes nuts when possible.
Nut allergies are on the rise and many students suffer severe consequences
to their exposure. Teachers will alert
parents to other specific allergies in their classroom. This rule applies to daily snacks, as well
as birthdays and special “party” occasions.
We apologize for any inconveniences this causes our families, however,
we believe it is in the best interest of our students.
Parents are reminded that children should
not be sent to school if they have vomited and/or are running a fever. There
must be a 24 hour rest period.
