COLLEGE PREP CERTIFICATES
With the new high school graduation
requirements now in effect, the Department of Elementary and Secondary
Education is no longer producing College Prep Certificates for dissemination.
The new graduation requirements now closely reflect the credit standards that
had been required for the certificate and it is the expectation that all
students will be college and career ready.
Based on this new information from DESE
received on 1/14/11, our district will recognize College Prep students this
year at graduation with certificates made in house. We will look into the requirements to see if we will continue to
offer this recognition for future years.
HOOPS FOR HEART
On Wednesday, February 16th
nine elementary students participated in the Hoops for Heart event. These students raised $340 for the American
Heart Association to support research dedicated to finding a cure for heart
disease.
Thank you to Jenny Elsea
and McDonalds for donating prizes for each participant, Hy-Vee for the donation
of a gift card used to purchase snacks, Mrs. Fisher and Mrs. Grissom for
helping out with the event, and Mrs. Kincaid and the Girl Scouts for preparing,
serving, and cleaning up the snack.
