LOCAL FBLA CHAPTER ATTENDS SLC

 

Members of the Brashear Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recently attended the 2019 Missouri FBLA Leadership Conference held on April 13, 14, 15, and 16 in Springfield, Missouri.

 

FBLA is a career and technical student organization for all high school students participating in business programs. Members and advisers throughout the state met to elect state officers, transact business of the state chapter, participate in leadership and career workshops, and compete in the state leadership awards program.

Winning recognition at the state conference were Wyatt Potter, 9th place, Accounting I and Levi Blankenship, 10th place, Accounting I. Martha Reese is the local chapter adviser.

Wyatt will be competing at the National Leadership Conference to be held June 29-July 2 in San Antonio, Texas.

 

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION

 

The Adair County R-II High School graduation ceremony will be held in the high school gymnasium on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend.

 

The eleven seniors include Lynn Beaman, Courtland Blakely, Levi Blankenship, Kameren McGinnis, Triston Morrison, Branden Peterson, Wyatt Potter, Alan Sanchez, Colton Sayre, Valerie Sizemore, and Aden Zentz.

 

The receiving line for the graduates will be in the cafeteria immediately following the ceremony. In addition, National Honor Society will be hosting a punch and cookie reception.

Good luck Seniors in all your future endeavors!

 

SIXTH GRADE PROMOTION

 

The Adair County R-II sixth grade promotion ceremony will be held in the high school gymnasium on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

The ten sixth graders include Cassidy Althide, Tayla Garlock, Cory Holcomb, Everett Rude, Andrea Shaw, Jacob Snyder, Keegan Stewart, Paige Stutsman, Lana Vansickle, and Riley Whitlow.

A reception will be held for the students in the cafeteria following promotion.

 

YEARBOOK

 

If you haven’t ordered your 2019 yearbook, it’s not too late. Yearbooks may still be purchased for $30. Please make your check payable to Adair County R-II School.

 

BREAKFAST/LUNCH MENU

 

Breakfast each day includes fruit, milk and juice. Students may choose cereal instead of the breakfast item offered. The following items are offered daily for students to choose from in lieu of the lunch entrée: yogurt or a WOWBUTTER® (peanut butter replacement) and jelly sandwich.

 

May 1-3

Wednesday: Bagel, muffin/Corn dog, tater tots, vegetable, fruit, rice krispie treat, milk

Thursday: Sausage, egg, cheese, biscuit/Chicken patty, macaroni & cheese, vegetable, fruit, pudding, milk

May 6-10

Monday: Biscuits & gravy/Nachos, lettuce, vegetable, fruit, cookie, milk

Tuesday: Cinnamon roll/Country fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit, brownie, milk

Wednesday: Pancake, syrup, sausage/Tater tot casserole, cottage cheese, corn, peaches, banana bread, milk

Thursday: Breakfast burrito/Hot pocket, tater tots, vegetable, straw-berries, cake, milk

Friday: Long john/Tacos, lettuce, refried beans, fruit, ice cream, milk

 

May 13-17

Monday: Waffle, syrup, sausage/Spaghetti, cottage cheese, vegetable, fruit, cookie, milk

Tuesday: French toast sticks, syrup/Mr. Rib, mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit, pumpkin bar, milk

Wednesday: Scrambled eggs, bacon, toast/Nacho pie or sloppy joe, lettuce, carrots, fruit, cheesecake, milk

Thursday: Cereal, breakfast bar, oatmeal, toast/Tenderloin, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, fruit, pudding, milk

May 20-23

Monday: Sausage, egg, cheese, biscuit/Chicken nuggets, macaroni & cheese, vegetable, fruit, cookie, milk

Tuesday: Cinnamon roll/Sub sandwich, chips, veg-etable, fruit, rice krispie treat, milk

Wednesday: Waffle, syrup, sausage/Walking taco, lettuce, refried beans, fruit, brownie, milk

Thursday: Donut/Hot dog, chips, carrots, apples, cookie, milk

 

ELEMENTARY END OF YEAR CELEBRATION

 

Please plan to join us on Thursday, May 16th for our annual Elementary End of Year Celebration in the Brashear City Park. Dinner will be served from 5:30-6:00 p.m. with the awards ceremony starting at 6:00 p.m.

In the event of rain, the celebration will be moved to the elementary gym.

We look forward to seeing you there!

 

TIGER PRIDE

 

The Tri-County Conference Band met to rehearse all day on Saturday, March 30 in Green City and performed in Green City, Novinger, and Brashear on Monday, April 1. Six students represented Brashear in the band. Congratulations to Levi Blankenship—2nd chair percussion; Lacey Fisher—3rd chair clarinet; Landon Fisher—1st chair tenor saxophone; Kami McGinnis—1st chair bass clarinet; Wyatt Potter—1st chair alto saxophone; and Avery Zentz—1st chair euphonium. Brashear band students captured the most 1st chair positions than any other school in the conference!

 

Congratulations to the following students who won purple ribbons at District Industrial Arts contest in Moberly on Thursday, April 18: Mackenzie Baker—Clock; Alexa Borgmeyer—Billfold; Carson Erwin—Billfold; Landon Fisher—Clock; Emma Harsell—Clock; Brandon Jochimsen—Fish and Ram; Justin Leedom—Bowl; Hunter Maxymczak—Blue Jays; Kolbi Mason—Earrings; Wesley McGinnis—Clock/Car; Aden Shahan—Clock and Pen; Jace Snelling—Ariat, Bobcat, Deer Call and Deer Hunter; Sierra Snyder—Horse/Record and Avery Zentz—Clock. These students are eligible to compete at the State Industrial Arts contest on Tuesday, May 7 at Lake of the Ozarks.

 

Congratulations to Justin McHenry for being a finalist in the Tri-County Electric Cooperative Youth Tour Competition.

 

BLOOD DRIVE

 

The American Red Cross and Adair County R-II School will be sponsoring a Blood Drive on Wednesday, May 1st from 2:00-6:30 p.m. at the Keller Building. Please make plans to stop by and donate!

 

SCHOOL BOARD REORGANIZES

 

The Adair County R-II Board of Education met in special session on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, to swear in new members and reorganize. The officers elected are as follows: President, Jim Reeves; Vice President, Alissa Garlock; Secretary, Keith Turner; Treasurer, Aaron Zentz; and Board Delegate, Jason Taylor. Members are Sara Erwin and Duayne Housman.

 

The Board of Education meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. The agenda can be found posted on the door of the Superintendent’s office and at http://brashear.k12.mo.us/dept/super/Agenda.htm. The public is welcome to attend the open session.

 

LUNCH REFUNDS

 

Lunch refunds will only be given to Seniors on their last day of school. Any money remaining in your child(ren)’s account(s) will be carried over to the 2019-2020 school year. Refunds will be given only if requested. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Renee or Karla at 323-5272.

 

AWARDS BANQUET

 

The annual Awards Banquet will be held on Thursday, May 9. The banquet will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the elementary gymnasium with the awards ceremony starting at approximately 7:00 p.m.

Each family attending is asked to bring two covered dishes and their own table service. Drinks and some meat will be furnished by the Athletics department.

The public is welcome to attend.
