are excited to celebrate this year's Reading Week November 7-11. Students will be challenged to read every
evening to set reading goals and read each evening to earn carnival tickets.
And,
yes, they may 'spend' them at our Reading Carnival for games and prizes on
Monday evening, November 14, along with our Scholastic Book Fair. Your family won't want to miss the
fun! Watch for the flyer coming soon to
a kid near you.

FROM THE DESK OF THE SUPERINTENDENT
Congratulations
to our Lady Tigers Softball team and Coach Schneider on a GREAT season! We are all very proud of you.
It
is a technological world…mp3 players, iPods, iPads, cell phones, internet,
etc. How savvy are you??? It is vital that we all take part in helping
our students and children become aware not only of the possibilities of this
“new world of technology” but also the dangers. We are able to “skype”, instant message, tweet, and FaceTime in
less time than it takes to dial a telephone.
(If you don’t know what those are…ask your children!) With the ability to connect instantly and
endlessly, the need for positive parental involvement has never been more
important. Don’t give up your right as
parents to be involved with your children (they will call it being nosey). It’s our job to protect them…even when they
announce loudly that “none of my friends’ parents ever check …phone, text,
Facebook page, twitter account, social networks…” My response…”WHATEVER!”
We have all been at the point when we thought our parents didn’t know a
thing! But we have all thought back and
said “I wish I would have listened to mom and dad,” or “Mom was right!”
What
is that saying…when kids are little, their parents are their heroes, when kids
are teenagers, their parents don’t know a thing, but once they become parents
themselves, they realize that being a parent is the toughest job there is…but
also the BEST!
If
you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
