Parents picking up only elementary students, please use the designated parent pick up line between the playground and guardrail.

Parents picking up only JH/HS students, please park in the new parking lot or along Dewey Street to the east of Church Street.

If you are picking up both elementary and JH/HS students, your JH/HS student will pick up your elementary student inside the school and will walk with them to your vehicle. Please park in the new parking lot or along Dewey Street to the east of Church Street.

Following these procedures are important for the safety of our students.

MOCAP (Missouri Course Access and Virtual School Program)

The Missouri Course Access and Virtual School Program (MOCAP) has developed a catalog of virtual online courses for students.  Students will be able to take an entire course from any Internet-connected computer, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. MOCAP's mission is to offer Missouri students equal access to a wide range of high quality courses, flexibility in scheduling, and interactive online learning. The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the State Board of Education oversee administration and quality assurance activities such as related content and delivery of courses. Local Education Agencies (LEAs) that provide virtual education outside of MOCAP are responsible for ensuring alignment and other statutory requirements are met.

In accordance with state law, Section 162.1250, RSMo, our district allows families to apply for admittance to MOCAP.  A link can be found on our district website.

All responsible public agencies are required to locate, evaluate, and identify children with disabilities who are under the jurisdiction of the agency, regardless of the severity of the disability, including children attending private schools, children who live outside the district but are attending a private school within the district, highly mobile children, such as migrant and homeless children, children who are wards of the state, and children who are suspected of having a disability and in need of special education even though they are advancing from grade to grade.  The Adair County R-II School District assures that it will provide a free, appropriate public education (FAPE) to all eligible children with disabilities between the ages of 3 and 21 under its jurisdiction.  Disabilities include autism, deaf/blindness, emotional disorders, hearing impairment and deafness, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairments, specific learning disabilities, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, visual impairment/blindness and young child with a developmental delay.

The Adair County R-II School District assures that it will provide information and referral services necessary to assist the State in the implementation of early intervention services for infants and toddlers eligible for the Missouri First Steps program.

The Adair County R-II School District assures that personally identifiable information collected, used, or maintained by the agency for the purposes of identification, evaluation, placement or provision of FAPE of children with disabilities may be inspected and/or reviewed by their parents/guardians.  Parents/guardians may request amendment to the educational record if the parent/guardian believes the record is inaccurate, misleading, or violates the privacy or other rights of their child.  Parents have the right to file complaints with the U.S. Department of Education or the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education concerning alleged failures by the district to meet the requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

The Adair County R-II School District has developed a Local Compliance Plan for the implementation of State Regulations for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).  This plan contains the agency’s policies and procedures regarding storage, disclosure to third parties, retention and destruction of personally identifiable information and the agency’s assurances that services are provided in compliance with the General Education Provision Act (GEPA).  This plan may be reviewed in the Superintendent’s Office during normal school hours.

This notice will be provided in native languages as appropriate.

If you are homeless and going to school, let the school know about it

Being homeless and going to school would be hard for any child regardless of age or grade level. Many things that you normally would not have worried about before become issues, such as transportation, space to do homework and school attendance. Some families are afraid to let their child's school know that they are in between places for fear of being judged or, even worse, being reported to DFS.

There are some things you should know about being homeless and going to public school:

• There are laws that protect your child's rights and your rights as a parent to be treated as any other participant of the Adair County R-II School
• The school district has a program to help homeless families with resources to help your child stay on track and can direct you to agencies that can help you during your period of homelessness.
• It is your choice to let the school district know that you are homeless.
• The school district, like any other agency that mandates reports, must have a reason to call DFS. Homelessness, depending on the circumstances, is not grounds to make a DFS report.

Be enrolled without a birth certificate, immunization record or other required documentation.

• Attend the school that he/she attended before the family lost its home
• Be transferred to a school closer to where he/she is staying now.
• Get assistance with free transportation to and from school.
• Have access to materials such as books and supplies to ensure an equal opportunity to participate in school.
• Receive any special services that he/she might need.

These services include:

1. Special education
2. Bilingual services
3. Gifted and talented education services
4. Free lunch and breakfast program
5. Counseling services
6. Before and after school programs
7. Tutoring services

Parents and guardians of homeless children have the right to:

• Attend school free of judgment
• Be involved in your child's education
• Be notified of and involved in any decision that your child's school makes regarding his or her social or academic career.
• Request a Student Alert team meeting for your child and include people of support. These may be a social worker or counselor from an agency you are working with or someone that has tutored your child at an after school program.

Facebook & Social Media Commenting Guidelines

The purpose of the Adair County R-II School District’s Facebook page is to facilitate another platform for the District to distribute District information to our students, their families, and the community at-large. We encourage your comments; your ideas and concerns are important to ensure that a broad range of community members are active and informed participants in the discussion. The District reserves the right to modify these guidelines at any time and expressly reserves the right to remove (or not remove) comments from its page, at the District’s sole discretion.

In addition, we expect that participants will treat each other, as well as our district, our employees, and our students, with respect. Comments may be removed if they fall into the follow categories:

• Vulgar, abusive, or hateful language, personal attacks or derogatory language of any kind, offensive terms or comments that target specific ethnic or racial groups, and/or obscene or sexually explicit language;
• Threats of any kind;
• Promotion of services or products (non-commercial links that are relevant to the blog post or comment are acceptable);
• Comments that are clearly off topic, or spam;
• Comments that make unsupported accusations;
• Comments containing content that may violate federal copyright laws or other intellectual property laws;
• Comments that contain information considered to be “closed records” under the Missouri Sunshine Act (Chapter 610 of the Missouri Revised Statutes); and
• Comments that reference employees or students by name or other identifying information, whether by direct or indirect reference.

The District will not edit comments to remove objectionable content.   Rather, the District will simply delete the objectionable comment in its entirety.  Accordingly, please ensure that your comments contain none of the above.
